Malaria: the global burden, diagnostic challenges, and new possibilities
Malaria is a detectable, preventable, and curable disease, but the burden on global health is still very high. This SEED article discusses a broad range of aspects, from the latest figures from the World Health Organisation and the Plasmodium life cycle to the limitations of stablished diagnostic tests, and how new technologies, such as the Sysmex XN-31 analyser, can enlighten the way towards malaria elimination.
